Worldwide Leader in
Digital Microsurgery

Known worldwide as a leader in robotic-assisted microsurgery, Dr. Parekattil and his colleagues at Avant Concierge Urology utilize the latest and most advanced technologies to treat patients. In fact, Dr. Parekattil is one of the founding Board members of the Robotic Assisted Microsurgical & Endoscopic Society (RAMSES).

Currently, Avant is the first and only in-office operator of the Karl STORZ 3D Vitom digital microsurgery system in the United States, offering patients a best-in-class surgery solution allowing for better precision and decreased recovery time.

One of the defining characteristics of Avant Concierge Urology is the practice’s focus on bringing the latest and best-in-class technology to patients. When dreaming up Avant, Dr. Parekattil knew that he wanted to establish surgical suites unlike any others across the globe. That’s why he selected the KARL STORZ VITOM 3D High-Definition Digital Microsurgery System, a next-generation microsurgical system that provides much better magnification and visualization. Additionally, the KARL STORZ VITOM 3D system allows physicians and others involved in a surgical procedure to remain upright, saving thousands of hours bent over and the resulting excruciating back pain that many surgeons encounter and just learn to live with. At Avant, where so much is focused on the patient experience, patients also have the option to view the same images on-screen that the doctor and his team are viewing, with a high-definition flat-screen monitor mounted directly above them on the surgery suite’s ceiling.

Below are some images of the KARL STORZ VITOM 3D High-Definition Digital Microsurgery System, showcasing the commitment to best-in-class surgical options, packaged in a system that offers the most advanced visualization and magnification opportunities on the market. The result is more precise surgical procedures, translating to less down-time and better outcomes. Come see the KARL STORZ VITOM 3D High-Definition Digital Microsurgery System for yourself at Avant Concierge Urology.

Microsurgery at Avant Means Less Downtime, Simpler Recovery

Avant Concierge Urology uses the Erbe VIO® 3 electrosurgical device to perform procedures in-office. For Erbe, high-tech and safety are their passion. The company has been a pioneer in the development of electrosurgery for over 90 years, gathering experience you can count on.

With its logical and intuitive interface, the VIO 3 is designed to ensure optimal user-friendliness. The size of the touchscreen display alone speaks for itself: from the operating field, the surgeon always has a clear view of all control elements. As your stepGUIDE, VIO 3 provides guidance by suggesting experienced starting settings used in various clinical applications. This results in less setting adjustment or modifications.

Erbe VIO® 3

The Erbe VIO 3 offers:

  • Multi-modality modes for various clinical specialties – the VIO 3 has the right mode for your application, supporting monopolar and bipolar techniques and our proprietary hybrid technology – a combination of different technology.
  • 19 Optimized Modes – the right modes for your application adapted to your instrument selection.
  • Precise Effect Settings – adjusting the selected mode has never been easier via the effect setting.
  • High Reproducibility – advanced measurement technology, consistent cutting, and coagulation effects.
  • Homogenous tissue effects – the VIO 3 responds to parameter changes in the tissue immediately regardless of the electrode shape or incision technique.
  • An expanded choice in instrument selection for your medical team, which can use up to 6 instruments (including APC) in accordance with the surgical procedure. The connection options offered by VIO 3 support a larger number of instrument combinations.

Best-In-Class Technology Addressing BPH/Enlarged Prostate at Avant

Avant Concierge Urology offers Rezūm Water Vapor Therapy, a minimally invasive, in-office treatment designed to reduce benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms in certain men with enlarged prostate — without the side effects of BPH medications. Rezūm uses thermal energy in water vapor to reduce and remove obstructive tissue surrounding the prostate for the treatment of an enlarged prostate, known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The procedure utilizes steam to treat the extra prostate tissue that is causing symptoms such as frequency, urgency, irregular flow, weak stream, straining, and getting up at night to urinate. The minimally invasive Rezūm procedure – performed in the clinic – provides men with another treatment alternative that minimizes certain unwanted side effects sometimes experienced with medications or other more invasive procedures including erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence. For more information about Rezūm Water Vapor Therapy, visit https://www.rezum.com/home.html.

How the Rezūm System Works

Rezūm™ Water Vapor Therapy uses the natural energy stored in water vapor, or steam. Clinical studies show a positive safety profile with the ability to relieve symptoms associated with BPH. During each 9-second treatment*, sterile water vapor is released throughout the targeted prostate tissue. When the steam turns back into water, all the stored energy is released, causing the cells to die. Over time, your body’s natural healing response removes the dead cells, shrinking the prostate. With the extra tissue removed, the urethra opens, reducing BPH symptoms. Most patients begin to experience symptom relief in as soon as two weeks, and maximum benefit may occur within three months.

*Patient responses can and do vary. The number of water vapor treatments varies depending on the size of the prostate. The procedure is done during one appointment. The images above are intended to show how the procedure works, not to provide an exact representation of patient results.

Benefits of the Rezūm System

Rezūm water vapor therapy has been proven to provide patients with significant improvement in BPH symptoms, including frequency, urgency, weak stream, straining to urinate, and nocturia (frequent nighttime urination) while preserving erectile function and urinary continence. Requiring NO general anesthesia like laser surgery or transurethral resection, the Rezūm treatment is performed under mild sedation ((nitrous gas or IV sedation) as an outpatient procedure at Avant Concierge Urology. The treatment is minimally invasive, takes less than a half-hour, and can be done awake with local anesthesia or under light sedation. Rezūm is covered by many insurance plans.
